Itinerary:

DAY 1: 

Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Quito at 7:00 a.m., and then you will drive directly up to the Antisana Reserve. At an altitude of 3.810 meters (12,500 ft), you will have enough time and good opportunities to observe the majestic Andean condors, considered the largest flying birds of the world, and one of the rarest species that has possibly survived since the era of the mega beasts (10,000 years aprox.)! Also, you will walk to the Mica Lagoon (4.050 m - 13,287 ft), result of the end of the last ice age, to get a better view of the volcano and water birds such as: Andean gulls, Andean lapwings, Andean coots, ducks, and black-faces ibis, which curiously live in Chile and only in the Antisana volcano (5.753 m - 18,874 ft) in Ecuador! Then, you will descend to the "Isco Canyon", where the nests of Condors are located! After enjoying more views of these amazing huge birds, you will have a traditional meal at a local restaurant. You will pass through “Selva Alegre” to see how the local people prepare the tasty and well-known grilled guinea pigs, considered as a novelty's meal during the Inca period! You'll finally arrive to Hotel Cotopaxipungo at approximately 5:30 p.m., where you stay to overnight enjoying its privileged infrastructure and location!

DAY 2: 

After having a tasty breakfast, you'll start at 8:30 a.m. your next challenging adventure day! You will drive towards the Cotopaxi National Park, that was created in 1975 as a protected area for the volcanoes and lakes within it! Around 9:00 a.m., you will be extremely close to Cotopaxi Volcano (5.897 m - 19,347 ft), in order to be surrounded by pristine forests, mountains, lagoons, wild horses and ecosystems that change amazingly as you get higher in the reserve! You will see also exotic animal species such as Andean foxes, carunculated caracaras, white-tail deer and llamas, while you participate of the walk around the most outstanding lake in the region, called Limpiopungo (3.800 m - 12,467 ft), which reflects in its waters the majestic Rumiñahui volcano (4.757 m - 15,606 ft). You'll have the challenging alternative to drive towards the parking lot, located at 4.500 meters above sea level (14,763 ft), in order to hike up where the refuge “Jose Rivas” is located (4.800 m - 15,748 ft)!! After this great and unforgettable life experience you will return back to Quito approximately at 5:00 p.m. End of your extraordinary adventure in the Andes of Ecuador!!
