Itinerary:
DAY 1
This is a perfect option in the Galapagos Islands, to celebrate your anniversary, honeymoon, or just to have great adventure in Ecuador! You transportation will pick you up approximately at 6:00 a.m. from your hotel in Quito to “Mariscal Sucre Airport”, to take the flight that goes to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, in San Cristóbal Island! Transportation from San Cristóbal Airport to Hotel. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to visit the Interpretation Centre to learn everything about the Galapagos Islands, and especially how we should behave during our stay on this important, and well-preserved pristine ecosystem. You will finish our first day in a beautiful warm sandy beach called “Playa Mann”, swimming with youth sea lions! In the evening you will relax at the hotel, enjoying the nocturnal activity of the Galapagos Islands wildlife!
DAY 2
After breakfast, your naturalist tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in order to visit the community of “El Progreso” and the only freshwater crater lake of all the archipelago known as “El Junco”, where the frigate birds like to wash their wings to move apart the excess of salt on them. Afterwards you'll drive down to “Cerro Colorado” to visit the Giant Tortoise Breeding Centre! Lunch on the way. You will finish your wonderful day at one of the most beautiful beaches of the Archipelago, well-known as “Puerto Chino”. There you could see marine iguanas, Galapagos crabs, blue-footed boobies, sea lions, etc. Then you'll drive back to your hotel, and you will have time to rest and relax at the front ocean boulevard…
DAY 3
After having breakfast, you have to walk towards the “Tourist Pier”, where you will meet your naturalist tour guide for this day! He/she will ride you on a comfortable yacht towards the “Kicker Rock” to discover the natural wonders of the Galapagos Marine Reserve!! You will have the opportunity to practice snorkeling through a beautiful canal located in between two ancient volcanic rock formations! During your time there, you will see Galapagos sharks, Hammerhead sharks, marine turtles, sea rays, colourful fishes, etc. Lunch on board. You have an extra visit to a pristine beach known as Manglecito or Puerto Grande** to enjoy and relax on a desolate warm sandy beach! Ride back to the dock. Rest of the day to enjoy the wonderful facilities of the hotel!
DAY 4
After having breakfast, your naturalist tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to start a hike, through a well-maintained and comfortable trail, up to “Tijeretas Hill”, place where Charles Darwin first landed from his vessel “Beagle”! On this trail it will be possible to watch lots of Galapagos Finches. Once you reach the summit of the hill, you will be delighted by the stunning view! Then you will have the opportunity to swim in “Playa Carola”. In the afternoon you´ll go to “La Lobería” where you can see big colonies of sea lions and marine iguanas! This site is also very popular in between surfers from all over the world!
DAY 5
After breakfast time, very early in the morning, you will be driven towards the airport of San Cristobal, in order to take the domestic flight that goes to Isabela Island! After one hour flying, you land in Isabela Island, and your adventure starts! First of all you check in at the Hotel, which is right in front of a beautiful sandy beach. Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to ascend through multiple microclimates on your way up towards the highlands! You will enjoy the panoramic views of the port and surrounding islands from the scenic road. With luck, you will see the elusive Vermilian Flycatcher, the famous Pájaro Brujo fluttering through the trees. Descend into the “Cueva de Sucre”, a natural lava tunnel situated deep in the highlands. A stop at the “Mirador del Mango” allows for more breathtaking views of the high country and surroundings. A hot meal at a quaint highlands farm, with tortoises, ends this half-day excursion. You drive back to your hotel to keep exploring the seashore by yourself!
DAY 6
After breakfast you will take a scenic coastal ride through the wetlands and estuaries of Isabela to the site of the "Mural de las Lágrimas" (Wall of Tears) to learn more about the human history of Galapagos. Your next visit is through a number of the secluded beaches and viewpoints scattered along the coastline before becoming intimately acquainted with giant (and not so giant) Galapagos tortoises at the Isabela Tortoise Breeding Centre! This preserve houses Galapagos tortoises in all sizes and stages of development where you can learn about the intensive efforts underway to help repopulate the islands with these majestic creatures. A stop at a local waterhole may allow you for the observation of Pink Flamingos feeding in the wild! You could choose to walk back to town via a boardwalk through the estuaries, if you wish. Time to relax and enjoy free time at the hotel.
DAY 7
After breakfast you will have time to enjoy the last couple of hours at Isabela Island. You will drive back to the airport in order to take the domestic flight back to San Cristóbal Island. You will land at the airport, in the afternoon, and then you take your transportation back to your hotel to stay the last overnight in the Enchanted Islands. Time to rest and explore by your own.
DAY 8
After having breakfast you will have time to walk through the front ocean boulevard in order to buy the last Galápagos souvenirs, or just to take the last pictures in town! Transportation to the airport to take the flight back to Quito! End of your unforgettable, high quality, and unique experience in the exotic Galapagos Islands!!
